Re: Melanistic sterbai?
these were taken while acclimating. I had 7 before I ordered this batch. Now I have 15 sterbai and that's the only one with marked fins and that dark of a body.

Melanistic sterbai?
Just picked up a batch of sterbai that I had a lfs order for me. One appears melanistic. Darker bodied and the pelvic fins are colored and spotted unlike the others i have which are not. Had anyone seen this before?

Re: Cory adolfoi fry help
I'm not sure what my hardness is. I use a whole home filtration system and water softener. Ph is 7.4. Our water was normally around 8 before I had the water soft filtration system added. I'll check the hardness out. Thank you

Cory adolfoi fry help
I have successfully bred and raised aenues and sterbai. But I am failing with adolfoi. I feel like a tool and worse for having to ask for help with this. I can not keep adolfoi fry past day 5. I have tried in a marina breeder box connected to the main tank and also in a 2.5 gallon tank with sand ...

Light sensitivity with Corydoras eggs
Every now and then I hear someone mention briefly, that Cory eggs can be light sensitive. But I never see any material about it. If you suspect your eggs are light sensitive, how do you and by how much, do you restrict the light exposure? I'm currently using marina breeder boxes to hatch my eggs ...

Re: Malaysian trumpet snails - any thoughts?
My biggest problem occurred when some young ones ended up inside my magnum 350 canister filter and their shells ground into the impeller. Ended up needing a new one.

Re: Corydorus.Sterbai in Discus tank
I had wood cats (Trachelyichthys exilis) with my discus. Having some other fish, which sterbai would be a good choice, helps them feel more secure. With no others around, some discus feel as if they need to constantly look over their proverbial shoulder. My heckels were like that. I also had a ...

Re: Mimics, lineages and chance of hybridization
I think in nature each species has its own queues for spawning, different niches & possibly different preferences for egg deposition, that they utilize, that act as barriers against hybridization. In the confines of an aquarium, there are no such barriers and hybrids are more likely to occur. Then ...

Re: Tankmates opinions and suggestions for Tigrinus catfish
I think Vitoria is right. There's a reason why when fishing for alligator gar they use a hunk of cut baitfish on a treble hook rather then a whole bait fish.

I'd go bristle nose. They're a dime a dozen and hardy. Not a big lose if the Dempsey kills it as opposed to the cost of a gold nugget or other plecostomus.
