Hello guys,
Sorry to be SO late, but I definitely visit planet catfish way eventually. Nevertheless, take a look at the ventral pic showing the mouth. This specimen clearly shows tentacles, so it's Ancistrus. In addition, from the lateral pic I see it shows three caudal-peduncle plate series, so ...

Re: L-355 "Ancistrus sp."..a Chaetostoma?
If you have some good pics I can take a look. There are several characteristics that separate Chaetostoma from Ancistrus aside from tentacles. You can count caudal peduncle plate rows (3 in Ancistrus, 5 in Chaetostoma); presence of fleshy ornamentation on premaxillae-dentaries (present in ...

I'm very interested in Chaetostoma and it relatives, and the species you mention seems to be from Colombia. I plan to publish some interesting things with respect to this species, but at first I should say I don't think your males are really mature. First of all, those are of a ...

Re: sexing bristlenose
Hi there,
In addition to the useful observations already posted, there are two good ways to decide between sexes in Ancistrus (Once reaching maturity, of course). One of them is SL, as males are notably larger than females at maturity (I can post images later), and degree of development of snout ...
