The next was the largest fish of the trip. It put a deep bend in the rod and I was afraid it would break. It weighed 3 pounds and was 21 centimeters.

Yes I was amazed at all of the fish species caught here. In smaller creeks there are ussually than ten 6-7 species.

Great trip and fish!
Reminds me of a recent trip to a "river" here in manaus it stank and looked horrible but I caught tons of great cats.

The leiarius pictus is about 4 and a half inches, and has grown about an inch in the last month.
Btw, he is going in a ten foot pond next month.

Hmm. I should have known, the deep chest is a dead giveaway. Catalinas are called sardinha here, one of the most common fish ...
