Would L239s get along with these guys?

Hello!

I'll be picking up 2 Baryancistrus beggini this week, and I was wondering if they'd work in one of my current setups.
It's a 300L tank planted tank with several red moor pieces, a bunch of 10-20ish cms smooth rocks with a mix of gravel and soil substrate. Using a tetratech x1200 external ...

Re: confession time: worst fishkeeping screw ups! come on folks we've all done them!

Hmm well, I've been spared anything too bad or costly so far, there's only really one that still kinda stings.
Was working in a pet store a few years ago, and, having been in the hobby since forever, if there were odd or unusual fishes to order I would try and talk my boss into getting some of ...

Re: Catfish Haiku

Ok I'll try..

Patiently she waits
down beneath the calm surface
Delicious larvae

for my raphael cat, and

gracefully swimming
my own ageing group of ghosts
serene and eerie

err, something like that? :eusa-think: :)

Re: The-ocean-is-broken

It's a very depressing read, especially since I don't think its an exaggeration at all. I'm studying a bit of marine biology at the moment, and while very interesting there's also quite a few sad stories about how we're ruining the marine life- the plight of the whales for instance.
The optimist in ...

Re: Peaceful Snail Eaters (Pest Control Required)

There's Botia striata aswell, usually doesn't get much bigger than 10cm either.
If you have space it's best to get a few of them though. Most botias afaik can nip fins and sometimes try to school with other types of fish if they're too few (had a couple pakistani loaches temporary in one of my ...

Re: Catfish Antics: Got a Story?

I've had this syno hybrid* for a few years now, and at first "he" was very shy so for the first few weeks at feeding time I would put a wafer just outside his cave to make sure he got some food (probably didn't really need to but just incase). After a week or two of doing that, it was enough just ...

Re: Spirogyra, the Algae from Hell

If you did, Rebah, I feel sorry for you! I've been doing 30-40% water changes every week, and thankfully none of it's clogged up the filter. (I put a sponge head over the intake which'll probably keep it well out.) I'm not sure if I want to do a blackout since I don't want dead plants, and a there ...

Re: Spirogyra, the Algae from Hell

I'm pretty sure that's the same algae I've had in a couple tanks. First time a couple siamensis (Crossocheilus oblongus) ate it all up in a few days, second time was in a tank that was a bit too small for them so tried the fast growing plants tactic. Went with Shinnersia rivularis which grew very ...

Will give him/her a 45cm tag then. I have a feeling we'll get to keep this one for a year or two aswell.

Ah, thanks. I've been told these guys get up to 600mm, but not quite that bad then.

Is this really a gibbiceps?

Got this one from a customer along with some skinny angelfish and an ancient looking silver shark. Looks like he'll need some medicine aswell after seeing those close-ups of his mouth huh. I just assumed it was a gibbiceps at first since we tend to get one every now and then from people who thought ...

As a friend said "Lottery is a tax on people who can't do math".

Mats

Or the "idiot tax" as my boyfriends father calls it :)

Still, one must state your plan is a bit soft, friend! Dream on but do not crash if it does not happen. Hopefully, you have plan b, c, and d... in the order of ...

Re: A synodontis mysteriosus

Awesome, thanks :)

Ah and about the lottery plan- I figure that the longer you go without winning the more your chance of winning will increase, so that eventually you will win. That's just how luck works. Thus, as neither of us has ever won the lottery, we stand a very high chance of winning any ...

Re: A synodontis mysteriosus

So 18-22cms, should be ok in my tank then? It's 154cm long, won't be able to fit a bigger tank in here sadly. Our plan is to win the lottery and buy a house big enough for a 1000L tank though, any time now I'm sure.
He seems very "friendly" so far, his tankmates at the petstore where I got him (and ...

Re: A synodontis mysteriosus

Oh, that was fast. I had a feeling he was a hybrid, didn't think he'd be one of those though. Mostly because my guy is rather dark brown and has pretty perfectly round spots, but I guess that's just individual differences then?

Edit: Nevermind that bit, just saw the other pictures there ...

A synodontis mysteriosus

So I finally managed to get a picture of this shy guy, anyone know what he/she is? I've had him for a couple months or so, he's probably a couple years old atleast though. 12-15ish cm long, fast as lightning, and favourite food is black mosquito larvaes. Also his eyes don't really look like that ...
