Compatible Tankmates?

Hi. What do you think of this assortment of tankmates? Do you think the frontosas or the synos will breed if kept together with these other fish? Thanks.

Syno. Decorus Eating Enough?

Hi. I have 3 juvenile syno decorus that are about 2". They are in a 70+ gallon corner tank. The other fish are 4 - (2") syno multipunctatus, 5 - (2") frontosas, 5 - (3"+) clown loaches, 3 - (4") siamese algae eaters, and a 3" bushy nose pleco. I feed the tank small sinking pellets while the lights ...

Hi. I bought 3 syno. decorus about 1 or 2 months ago. They were an inch or smaller, total length. I put them in a 10 gallon with a rock formation and some floating plants. The only other occupants were about 6 small tetras and a small bushy nosed pleco. I also did not want to put them in my 55 ...

How's about Frontosas?

Can Frontosas serve as hosts for syno. multipunctatus? Why or why not? Has anyone used Frontosas? Thanks.

Hi. What is the difference between "real" petricola and the dwarf variety? Do you have any pictures of both of them for comparison? Thanks.

Both of these fish are hardly found in the lfs here. If you find them, they are usually fairly expensive. I have 4 multis now that I got at a pretty good price. I now have access to some petricolas at a pretty good price. Would 4 of the petricolas get along with the 4 multis that I already have. I ...

Multipunctatus or Petricola?

Hi. I have a question for all of you who have experience with both of these fish. If you could have a group of 4 or 5, which type of synodontis would you choose? I guess the basis would be on looks, behavior, compatibility, etc. Please let me know your preference and reasons. Thank you.

Hi. How many would be a better group? They would eventually go in a 6'x1.5'x1.5' tank. The COTM description says that they get 270mm long. Is that correct? If you saw one that was 40cm, that is considerable larger. By the way, what is the growth rate like? Thanks.

Hi. Thanks for the input. I went to the lfs this afternoon and picked up 3 of them. They are about an inch long or a little smaller. They are currently in a 10-gallon quarantine tank with several tetras and lampeye killifish. I put some frozen bloodworms in the tank that I hope they will eat and ...

Synodontis Decorus Price?

Hi. I have the opportunity to purchase some juvenile synodontis decorus. They are about an inch long or a little smaller and the price is about $7 each. Is this a good price? How fragile are they at this size? How many would be the minimum to have a good active group? I realize that they get big and ...

Thanks for all the responses. I am aware that the native waters that the synodontis and clown loaches come from varies greatly. I know that the synodontis were bred and raised in aquariums here. The clown loaches have been living in one of my tanks for between 1.5 to 2.5 years. So don't you think ...

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Do you mean the water parameters? All the fishes are living in the same water straight from the tap. Right now the synos and frontosas are in one tank and the clown loaches are in another tank. I do not add anything to the water so it seems that they are both acclimated to ...

Synodontis Multipunctatus and Clown Loaches?

Hi. I have a 70+ gallon corner tank. From what I remember, I think the footprint area is a little bigger than the footprint for a standard 55-gallon. I am thinking of placing my 5 clown loaches and 4 synodontis multipunctatus in there. The loaches range from about 4" to about 2". The synodontis are ...
