OK, thank you for ID - I do appreciate it.bekateen wrote: 07 Aug 2017, 18:05 I'm not great at ID'ing loricariids of this type, but for what it's worth, I suspect it's in the genus .

Re: Is this mystery pleco supposed to be here?
Eric,
Yes, they didn't use the word "idiot", but the fact that they felt the need to inform me that there are no plecos native to Missouri indicates they think I must be very ignorant. Plus, I'm getting a bit frustrated, because so far, no one has actually offered what I originally asked for ...

Yes, I know where loracarids are found - I wouldn't be asking here if I caught it in the US (see the previous reply).cdarminio wrote: 07 Aug 2017, 13:06 If you caught it anywhere in the US, it's invasive. Loricariids originate from freshwater habitats of Costa Rica, Panama, and tropical and subtropical South America.

Re: Is this mystery pleco supposed to be here?
Please, I'm not an idiot. Obviously there are no plecos native here. I was traveling in a Latin American country, and the area where I found this has no loracarids recorded from the area.

Is this mystery pleco supposed to be here?
Hello everyone,
Can anyone give me a clue as to the ID of this loracarid? I caught it last week, in a rather remote location, where there are no known pleco species. So, I'm wondering, did I happen upon a new species, a new location of a known species, or an invasive species? (For now, I'd like to ...

Mystus bimaculatus - ready to roll
As some of you may recall, I posted here a few months ago, looking for Mystus bimaculatus, the Sumatran Two-Spot Catfish. I had ordered a group from The Wet Spot, which somehow were all males. Anyway, they recently became available again there, and I made an order this past week. I spoke to the ...

Rineloricaria confirmation?
Yesterday, I purchased a bag of 2 whiptails at my local club's quarterly auction. They were labeled as "Loricaria parva," brought by Mike Hellweg, and were wild-caught. These are the 2 fish in the first photo.

Re: Hypoptopoma
What is the size of the species ?
Do you have or can you make pictures exactly from the side, top and bottom ?
After a few days of watching them closely, and trying to sneak up on them with the camera without spooking them, I managed to capture the following photos of the three views you ...

Yes, with a cursory glance, it does look very similar to mine! Did you get yours this year as well? Perhaps they all originated from the same importation. Thanks for the input.Mol_PMB wrote:P.S. Do you think yours could be the same species as mine too?

Hypoptopoma
I purchased a group of these fish from Ted Judy at the recent Catfish Cataclysm in Wisconsin last month. Unfortunately I lost 3 the first couple days, but the remaining have settled in nicely (seven total). According to Ted, these were Hypoptopoma gulare, originating from Peru. First, I wanted to ...

Corydoras CW041?
I purchased a group of 10 of these aeneus-type Cories from Mike Hellweg at the MASI spring show earlier this year. According to his supplier, they were wild-caught from Peru. One of the other vendors, Matt Schauer, thought they were CW041, just from a glance. I looked up this species in Ian Fuller's ...

New to Planet Catfish forums
Although I've visited Planet Catfish many times in the past while researching this or that, for some reason I'd never thought about joining the forum. After attending the recent catfish convention in Wisconsin, someone suggested that I join, so here we go!

Looking for Mystus bimaculatus (female)
I recently made an order to The Wet Spot, part of which was a group of Mystus bimaculatus, the Sumatran 2-spot cafish. I ordered six, they sent four (the last ones they had). They arrived in good shape, are doing well, but unfortunately it appears that I have four males. I had hoped to attempt to ...
