Hi all

I've often heard of people putting a sand "play area" in to a community tank for their corydoras.

How is this done exactly? Should there be a small area setup or are we talking a large amount?? I have a Juwell Rio 180 (1m) tank.

Are there any issues to be aware of??

Thanks for the advice too MatsP. Will trek around more of the Essex LFS! Currently use Wet Pets in Romford mostly (they were also in PFK this month!) but might try Wickford or go back to Swallow's.

I have a single ancistrus sp. and understand that the males of the species display head bristles, however the one I have has only a few bristles on the very front of the head/snout - right at the tip. I've seen photos labelled as female with these and males with more bristles on the top of their ...

One of my Brochis Sp has a large white spot just above her barbels. Looks very much like a bacterial problem but could anyone let me know if they've had similar and how to treat.

Thanks for everyone's advice so far. Am getting addicted to cats of all kinds and am now thinking of a cat only tank!!

Anyways, got two common ottos which just seem to stick to a plant during the day and then when it's dark may venture out. They are very timid.

This is definitely the spotted raphael dora. Came across mine in the same way - attached to a piece of bogwood!!

My LFS sells these as Green corys - not too far off I suppose.

They are very shy / jumpy as expected but there's only two of them. I'm looking at adding another pair. God they are fast too when they are spooked!

Mats my ageing is incorrect - i'd bought this from LFS two months ago and at the time it was very small. I'll wait a bit to see what sex I have as I'd like to pair him/her up.

Got a 2-3 inch Spotted Raphael Cat who doesn't ever want to come out of his hidy-hole. Not even when it's dark.

Does anyone know of a really good food for him that will temp him out? I reckon once I've got him to come out he'll be fine.
