I snapped a few shots of the plecs in my 55gal tank in my bedroom....and before anyone gets excited, I know that there are WAY too many in there...which of course keeps me cleaning my tanks all the time...
My question is...in the photos are two big spotted guys. They are each about 7-8" long. How ...

I didn't find the pic on that site, but I would guess you got a flathead, not a bullhead. Here (Iowa) it's not unusual for people to pull HUGE flatheads out of the river. While fishing one night, I watched a guy for about 3 hours drag in a big flathead....67 pounder! We all took pictures of it and ...

Probably a stupid bristlenose question....
But when do fry start to get their bristles? I posted some time ago that I had my first batch of longfin BN fry....which soon followed with another group. Unfortunately, I had some death, but I have 36 little guys - all in various sizes - would never have guessed it was two batches - looks more like ...

I don't know what this guy is. He doesn't grow very fast whatever he is. He's about 4" long now.
Any ideas?

thanks for the tips butterfly.
When I get home tonight I'm going to set up a 10 gallon tank (which I know I can't put anyone in it for a bit) to have on "stand by" because it seems I have a very active mating pair - so this whole fry thing will be ongoing unless I separate them.

The last time I moved the fry (my first group) they were already starting to wander around inside the cave. These little guys are still in a little pile way in the top of the cave where they were hatched. I'll get a picture of them tonight....maybe they aren't even all hatched? I just saw one little ...

THat new guy that I'm trying to identify is in there (what was told to me was an adontis). Also a chocolate albino plec, albino plec, and 2 columbian sailfin plecs. Other fishies are various rainbows (turquoise, red, bosnia, etc), few blue tetras, and a few cardinal tetras. There are 3 corys still ...

Question about Bristlenose fry
I had posted a while back that my longfin bristlenose had their first fry! Out of the 36 - 17 are still alive and doing well. They are about 1 1/4" long now. When do they no longer need to be in an isolation tank and go back in the big tanks?

Adontis?
I bought a plec the other day at my local LFS. He was just too cool to leave there...so I bought him.
He's black with little white spots all over, LONG lyre tail. They had him marked as an Adontis - but I can't find anything in the cat-elog under that name.
He has a very strang head - there is an ...

Those Bristlenose Fry I have.....
I was in my LFS and I mentioned to them that my longfin bristlenose bred and I now have 34 fry (from what I can count - little guys move fast!). They are interested in buying them from me, as obviously I don't need 34 more plecs. LOL

Peppermint??
I was at my local LFS yesterday - buying kelp pellets for my new longfin bristlenose fry...and he had gotten some new plecs in.

The female is about 8 months old or so and I have had the male maybe 6 months. I would say she is young. She was only about 2.5" in body length (not counting those long fins) when I got her, but the male appears to be a mature adult. Maybe more next time!

Bristlenose Fry - HELP!!!
I have two long fin plecos. One is CLEARLY a bristlenose, and I thought was a male. The other nas no bristles whatsoever, so I thought at first it was a female (it was young when I got it but as it got older it never developed bristles, so I assumed it was just a long fin).
Anyhow - while cleaning ...

Most of my tanks are tetra tanks. And I have a HUGE variety of plecos in all my tanks. None of my plecs seem to bother any of my fish. I do have problems from time to time with my clown loaches chasing my rainbows, but other than that, they all live well together.

I was at my local fishy store (I found a new one that has HUNDREDS of tanks of nifty fishies). Anyway....I bought these two plecos, which they idenified one as a "Flat Head White Spot Pleco" and the other as a "White Spot Pleco".
I'll get pictures posted tonight...but....the "flathead" one doesn't ...
