Hm, okay. If they live I'll put them into my bigger tank, which is in the mid 70s. Is there any sort of cory that stays under 2.5" that will be okay in 90 degree water?
Probably a good sign, both of the remaining ones are acting like cories! They're swimming next to each other, then going up to the top, back to the bottom, searching around on the ground, then sitting around for a bit. Hopefully this means that they'll be okay. ..
Corydoras leucomelas Or at least as far as I can tell. Same markings and general colours. So if I am right, they should be okay in 80 degrees.
I did come up with a thought though. When I took the dead two back to the store today, the two I didn't buy were dead in the tank(:() could it be that ...
As I said, I don't know exactly how high the ph is. I can't find my kit, unfortunately. A lot of my stuff got lost when we moved last. . .
I acclimated them for temperature and let them go in the tank. As I said, though, that's the way I learned to do saltwater stuff and I've never had a problem ...
Don't know. 2 are dead tonight, and the other two still don't look too well. I think I'm going to return all of them to the store tomorrow instead of just the two dead ones
I don't know whats up, but they are all breathing somewhat hard and one is laying on his side looking half dead  I turned the lights off, but no other actions yet.
I upped the filter intake so there would be more O2 in the water, since I also have fry in there and figured they'd like the ...
Aha! I think(90% sure) I found some of these little ones at my local store tonight. They were just labled as "spotted" and since it was petsmart no one knows WHAT species it is. . . The cat-elog says that they're fine in around 80 degree water and they stay at 2.2" max :D I got 4 of them for my tank ...
*gets a little cartoonish exclamation point above her head*
Ah, good thing you said that! I wasn't even thinking about temps. . . I remembered they were cooler water fish, but it just didn't click until then. My tank stays WAY too hot for them >_> By close to 10 degrees! Oops. Lol, I'd originally ...
I've got a 20 gallon tank that I'm turning into a planted tank. I was thinking about cory cats for the bottom of the tank and some white clouds for the middle of the tank. It'll eventually have either hairgrass or chain swords over the bottom, depends on which likes the tank ...
It's not a new tank, just one that had a lot of stuff changed around in it. Because I had a really stupid moment and forgot to keep the old media in it until caught up... Anyways, before I left for work tonight I put some more floss from my oscar's tank into this one. I just hope it catches up soon ...
I've had a 20 gallon tank for a while. Just a community tank. I'd changed the substrate a while back to sand, and then had to change the filter due to it failing. Well, duh, cycle again... This has been going on for weeks now. The ammonia stays high in it all the time. I'm always changing the water ...
THAT fish looks almost identical to mine. The only difference is the pattern on the body is differnt by a long ways. So yeah, same body, fin shape and basically the same pattern. That help any?
Still trying to get a clear shot of the dorsal fin. I've gotten a couple of dark ones... I suppose I'll post them, in case anybody has super-eyes, but I don't think they'll do any good... He just hates his picture being taken for some reason>_> Even if you can't count the rays, you can get a clear ...
Well, I think I may have narrowed it down to about 100 species... I looked at the display I got him from and it said he is a "hypostomus plecostomus" The only problem is his pattern looks a good bit different to me anyways than the pictures on the site. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species ...
Hmm, I don't think he's a Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps. The markings on his fins are way off. They've got the striped pattern of the Liposarcus pardalis. How can I get him to keep his dorsal fin up for me to take a pic? Stupid question, but whenever he sees me walking towards the tank he hides... And ...
To be honest I haven't ever seen more than a few dots of algae in the tank, other than when I had brown algae when it was first set up, so that would not matter. Also the guy who runs one of the pet stores in town usually has a good list of fish that he can order, which is why I was looking around ...
Well, I was thinking that I'd need to be giving up my plec because he'd outgrow my tank, since every source I'd found had said that a regular "common" pl*co would grow to about 2' long. I made a post about giving him up in the south american forum, since I figure he'll get that long too, but I was ...
 Oops, I guess that'd help a bit, huh. I'm planning on giving this one to one of the local fish shops. They're very good and make totally sure that people know how large the fish in the store get before they allow someone to buy them, so I know s/he'll go to a good home.
Right now I've got a "common" pleco in my 60 gallon tank. I know he'll eventually(or soon, he's growing fast!) outgrow it. I was planning on getting a huge tank(at least 125 gal.) for him and a couple of cichlids that I had, but that plan isn't going to be able to happen, so I'm keeping the 60, yet ...
My name is Dana, and I'm new *waves hello*. Currently I have a few cats. I have a common pleco in my south american cichlid tank named Shark. Very handsome, he had the most white out of the tank, and I like to say I rescued him from petco. He was with tons of others, and luckily I knew a bit at ...
