Behaviour and water conditions

If one were examining the L number family in general would I be broadly correct in saying that they will generally accept water conditions with a ph between 6.5 and 7.5 and can be looked upon as relatively peaceful although with a tendency to be territorial at times.

Thanks

Breeding Sterbai

I am having no success and wondered if anyone can help. I have four fish of which I think I have at least one male. I suspect I need a further male because the current one is showing no interest. My water is relatively soft with a ph of around 7. I have tried adding cold water which brings the temp ...

Sterbai Problem

I bought a few Sterbai yesterday and noticed today that one has the odd tiny red patch on his gills. I dont think it is down to high nitrites in the dealers tanks because their water quality is usually very good. Does anyone have any ideas. The fish seems fine at the moment but I am wondering if it ...

I am not questioning the accuracy of PC - I am just interested to know whether the descriptions for each L number in the Aqualog books are correct but accompany the wrong photographs.

Thanks

Aqualog

The descriptions for L numbers differ in many cases compared to PC. Are their descriptions wrong or are they using the wrong photographs but the actual descriptions are correct. The reason I ask is that most fish shops use the descriptions in Aqualog and it is very hard to know who is right. I am ...

Has anyone come across these at their lfs recently. I have never seen them and can only assume they are rare and hard to obtain.

L number listings

This site contains listings for the above. If you compare it to Aqualog there are several numbers missing. Is this because Aqualog are incorrect or have some numbers been reclassified and consequently they no longer exist.

Can anyone suggest the best journal/club/organisation to join which gives updates on new discoveries as well as changes to scientific names. I am trying to compile an up to date list of scientific names and common names and I would like to keep this as up to date as possible.

Do you have any experience of these. I acquired a lonely one from my lfs but unfortunately it died shortly afterwards. They are interesting looking fish and I would like to acquire several of these and have a go at breeding them. I have not come across them in shops before and assume they are ...
