Handfeeding!

Post by Sassy76 »

I have two yellow bullheads and they are a year and a half old, well i have been feeding them live feeder goldfish and somebody told me that I shouldn't be feeding them those, well I got some pellets. My question is can I teach them to take it out of my hand? We have an African Red Tail Catfish at my work and he takes food out of our hands. He is over 2ft long. I think it would be cool to be able to handfeed them, does anyone have any suggestions?

Earthworms, Nightcrawlers, whatever you want to call them. The pet Bullhead I had in a garden pond used to practically crawl into my hand for them. Incidentally, check the ID on your 'African' Red Tail. There's an South American and and Asian Red Tail, but the only African Cat with a red tail I know of isn't usually referred to as such and doesn't get so large.

I got them some jumbo freeze dried shrimp and I was able to get one of them to eat it out of my hand this morning, but I just fed them three dozen feeder fish and so they aren't that hungry I guess so I will have to wait till they digest some more!
