Hello! Again Everyone :D

I have a question about using Aquarium Salt. Can I use Aquarium Salt to my Corydoras? The Aquarium Salt of Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. that uses to Reduces Stress and Adds Electrolytes, Improves Gill Function, and Use With Most Remedies To Improve Disease Recovery. This Aquarium Salt is excellent for all African Cichlids that love salt, but All Callichthyidae family don't love salt, and some species will die if you put salt in the tank, but this is not the kitchen salt. So, I really want to know if someone know about this. Can I put this Aquarium Salt in my Corydoras tank? I really love this Aquarium Salt because it is not kitchen salt, and it really can help your fish to Improves Gill Function, Reduces Stress, and Improve Disease Recovery because I did use it with some of my African Cichlids, and it really worked out excellent. :?:

Please! help if someone really know about using aquarium salt to all my Corydoras will be Ok for them or NOT. Thank you very much. It will be greatly appreciated.

Bunthid or Max :)

I never heard about any salt reducing stress - unless the stress comes from too few electrolytes in the water, in other words, too soft water

Fishes from the family Callichidae come from South America (1 species, Hoplosternum punctatus reached Panama, but there the water is soft too) where hardness is virtually absent or low. South America is larger than Amazonia, but the continent is not as rich in minerals as Europe or North America are. Therefore, if your water would need to be prepared for your Corydoras, it would have to be softened.

Cichlids from the East African riftlakes inhabit very hard water - and these may require hardening. Still, I would use seasalt, or normal rocksalt, and not some preparation from a company. That is both because of the price, and the fact that I like to know what's in the water.

I also think that if you were to analyze the Aquarium Salt you will find that it is essentially table salt - a bit more expensive.

Salt is indeed helpful in certain circumstances as a medication, but as Bas says, otherwise healthy fish do not need salt in the water to stay healthy, just like most humans do not need headache pills every day - when you need them, they do good things, but if you take them all the time, it's not longer term good.

They sure are. Do not use salt with corydoras.
