Just wondering..... does anyone know the methods they use to collect hypancistrus in the wild? In particular I was interested in those hypans from the xingu region.

Sorry I don't have access to that text. Could you summarize?

In very short: They dive and use plastic bottles to hold the fish, and sticks to pry the fish out of their caves. Depending on the fish, the depth varies a bit. H. zebra are quite deep, 10-15 meters, so they use pumped air to breathe under water. For shallower sections, just snorkel and goggles are used.

Ingo's book is a great book that every pleco person should have in their library, IMO.
