This is one of mine that Richard also thought was a galinae. 8th post down - 3 pics of a large ~7"-8" TL euptera-looking syno. Also deformed - mouth skewed to one side. (Better seen on some pics here

Seems entirely (so far) consistent in one feature: blunter than normal euptera head/snout or, if you will, a higher-sloped "forehead".
Do we know/does there exist a hypothesis what these are the hybrids of?

I did an article on them years ago for the Catfish Study Group Newsletter and based on the evidence I had, concluded they are a deformity caused by hormone breeding of S. euptera (not hybridisation).
