Pitbull digging?

I have these two little guys and I have noticed more and more that they go along the glass basically digging. It was just one that was doing it at first and today I noticed both are doing it. It's almost like they are making trenches in the substrate. My Cory's then will follow behind them and clean up the substrate when they move to a different spot.
The second pic the pitbull is almost half an inch deep.

Hi,

these fish like to bury themselves into the substrate. makes them feel safe. this is easiest in a substrate of fine sand.

I would highly recommend you to replace those shiny gravel colours for a sandy substrate, the pit bulls will benefit from that and you get to see their natural behaviour.

Hi all,
I think they have a keen sense of colour co-ordination, and finding that they clash with the gravel they are trying to escape. More seriously sand might be better.
