Is Corydoras sp. CW023 = CW014?

Probably checking in with @coryman, but it appears these two are no considered the same. Is that right? What did we learn about them to make the leap?

Cheers

They are both the same species, CW014 was determined on specimens that had been kept over black substrate, which darkened the fish giving them a red stripe. Over normal lighter substrate the stripe is orange. These are not the same and should not be confused with CW010 the 'Gold laser'

Thanks Ian. I have now combined the two species entries, registered keepers, common names and breeding reports. For those who follow these things, the old species entry has now become Chaetostoma marginatum.

Cheers,

Yeah, a species entry can go anywhere, doesn't even have to be a catfish. BTW, since you mention it there are some nice old drawings of this species and others (under CC licence) over on wikipedia... ;-)

Okay, I can get those images and add them in.

So are you saying this? The way this database works is as follows: If two species (or in this case, two CW numbers) are determined to be the same, you can't just fuse the their two CLOG pages together, and you can't actually remove either of the entries (both entries must persist in the database). The only way to handle this situation is to merge the data for both entries into one of the pre-existing CLOG pages, then take the other entry and rename it to some other (random) species of fish, one which is not already in the database? If so, I understand and no need to respond.

Thanks, Eric

Yup, nailed it. Maybe not the best design, but hey, it was built in the 90's!
