Bumblebee cats....

Hi all,

I recently went to my lfs and saw a new addition to their inventory. I was stuck at a tank with two bumblebee cats. I know nothing about these fish so I passed them up. But when I got home, I thought geez maybe I should have brought them or one home. Has anyone kept these fish? How big do they get? I was told that they will eat my smaller fish when they get bigger? By smaller fish I mean furcata rainbows. My tank is 55 gallon, overstocked, but surely room for one more cat, if it dosn't get too big. I wouldn't want to buy it and then kill the poor thing due to my stupidity. Some information on these cats would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Angela

Ummm....Im not sure. All I was told was that it was a bumblebee cat and that when they got bigger they would for sure eat my smaller fish. By looking at the pictures that you posted links to (thank you) I think they were microglamis ihering. It was hard to tell because they had themselves cramed into a plant at the back of the tank that they were in. Sorry I can't give you anymore info. Do all three of these cats have very different information? Thanks,

Hi all,

Well I am on my way to my lfs to pick up my new bumblebee cat. Im almost positive after looking in some books last night, that they were South American's. I will have a good look at them before I bring them home though. Im assuming I should just buy one? They only had two, how horrible will I feel for splitting them up??? Ahhhhh  Well if anyone thinks I would be able to house two then let me know. Thanks and Ill let you know if they even had them still!

Hi all,

Well I went to my lfs and bought my new bumblebee cat. He/she is beautiful. There was only one left so that made my decision easy. I was also looking for a banjo cat, but they didn't have any. The bbc seems to be okay so far (mind you I just let him go) He's hiding in my artificial root, hopefully he'll come out later to eat. Does anyone know how to sex these guys without physically taking him out and flipping him over? Well Ill keep you posted on how he's doing.
