It could be lonely, when i got my first lima a few years ago it would just rest in the plants all the time except at feeding time. When i added a second one a year later the change in behaviour was instant, the original one came out from the plants and immediatly started to shoal with the new one and they are still inseperable a year on, i have since aquired a 3rd S.lima which i will be adding to the main tank once it is too big to be considered food by the other inhabitants.

what are your water comditions like. ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH ect. how long has your tank been set up?
It's just odd that your lima had/has Ich.

tank is on its 2nd week and hes been in it from day one, i dont know why he would be lonely we have had him for a lil while and he acted fine.just did a water change and detoxified the amonia and there was neither amonia or nitrites today. dont have a ph tester at this time, kinda poor.

Oscars need atleast a 75gal tank when they get larger, I'd say your over your limit.

I take it then that this tank wasnt cycled before adding fish? Catfish do not make for good cycling fish as ammonia concentrations are higher in the lower levels of the tank, i would say your fish is showing symptoms of ammonia/nitrite poisoning.

That is already far too many fish for a 55g, just to keep the two oscars together you will need a 125 gallon aquarium and if the gar is one of the true garfish species then much larger than that!
