Re: Where might I find a list of fish that occur naturally w
Fishbase is really useful. Scroll down to "Information by ecosystem". For instance, here's a list of species in Rio Negro: http://fishbase.org/trophiceco/FishEcoL ... ve_code=63

Re: Cetopsis coecutiens
I've had Cetopsis coecutiens with banjo cats, but most fishes will be eaten. When one of my whale cats got a bacterial infection it was eaten as well.
But they're fun to watch at feeding time. Here's an old video (they got even crazier as adults): http://www.zoopet.com/video/showphoto.php?photo=35 ...

I named my Acanthicus hystrix Blackie (after Lawless).
Didn't help much, though - it was killed by a bunch of wasp-like Leporinus tetras...

My Liosomadoras morrowi left the hideout this morning and I was able to take some pics.
She(?) is 6" SL and becoming quite impressive. Wish I could find her a partner!

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
I've had some difficulties with the gulpers, but this one seems ok.
It was really happy to get a couple of malawi cichlids as tankmates.

Re: need help with my gulper catfish
Look out for parasites.
My three small gulpers stopped eating after a few weeks, and then I discovered lice on them. I removed the lice, but the gulpers didn't start eating. It took three months for them to get better. I guess they had some nasty gill parasite - the medicin that eventually worked ...

Re: Hexanematichthys seemanni -> Sciades seemanni?
What about Ariopsis? That seems to be CoF's choice:
•Valid as Sciades seemanni (Günther 1864) -- (Marceniuk & Menezes 2007:110 [ref. 29031]). •Valid as Ariopsis seemanni (Günther 1864) -- (Bussing 1987:100 [ref. 22927], Nelson et al. 2004:83 [ref. 27807], Kailola 2004:126 [ref. 28108], Ferraris ...

Re: Pseudostegophilus nemurus ?
Brooklamprey's comment in Cat-eLog might be comforting:
P. nemurus is also the topic of this thread at MFK.
But I guess they won't be a great choice for the community tank. These fish have been observed feeding on dead fish and fillet as well as frozen thawed fish.

Re:
I still haven't seen it eat, but my L. morrowi is by far the fattest cat in the tank - it's HUGE. I think it preys on juvenile T. intermedia (I don't mind).Marc van Arc wrote:Could any of the morrowi keepers inform me how they behave with smaller (cat-)fishes? Perhaps one of the smaller tanks may be an option.

I'm comparing several Peruvian exporters lists with regard to common names and scientific names, so everyone interested will be able to find out which is which.
Should be finished by the end of this week and will by no ...
