What kind of cory is this?
I'm thinking ambiacus but not really sure. Any inputs are appreciated.

Thanks for the responses!
BTW, I enjoyed reading your article at TFH magazine.
But I'm still a bit confused. I noticed that those two species are remarkably similar. However, I consistently see a black blotch on the dorsal fins of all the ambiacus photos whereas I don't see it all the time in agassizii. Do you still think it's ambiacus? Thanks.Coryman wrote:I would say it is C. ambiacus
They are very close to C. agassizii in colour pattern, but lack the black pigment that covers in the first 2 or 3 soft dorsal rays.

Both species have an extremely variable colour pattern, which often overlap. C. ambiacus often shows a blackish shoulder blotch which extends into the lower half of the first 4 or 5 soft dorsal rays. In C. agassizii the first two or three dorsal rays are predominantly black from the base to the tip. The intensity of the black can vary acording to the fishes moods and or surroundings.
