I have only ever used one once at the MSI building at Dundee University all I can say the results are amazing. This was about two years ago for an art project I was doing at Duncan of Jordanstone. I'm am not trained to use them but they seem very easy to get to grips with. Though from what I can tell the one I used seemed to be a microscope with an adapter to allow a digital camera to be attached. The results were good I'll up load a couple photos if you wish.

The low-cost Intel PC microscope looks like a toy (bright purple and blue colors and all) but the results were actually quite impressive for the price (~$100).
(Thankfully, they've changed the color.)

I have some developmental photos of Melanotaenia sp. eggs that I took as a test series.
You can clearly discern details as fine as individual melanophores, the circulatory system and other structures.

If you were looking to go cheap, this seemed worth the money.
Sincerely,

Hello,
I had no idea that those things were so inexpensive. I have misplaced the info but I was looking for a way to take digital photos with my binonocular compound microscope that has a 100x oil immersion lens allowing for up to 1000x magnification. What I found were adapters to connect the camera were only about $20 on E-bay..
I was really surprised because just to replace the oil immersion lense would cost about $150. I assumed every accessory would be expensive.
