Re: Can I keep a peruvian pictus?
P. pictus will probably eat Neons and other small tetras.
A 29g tank is a bit on the small size for P. pictus, as they do best in a group of 5 or so, and given their full size (around 6") combined with their frantic activity when they are out and about, I'd say that's a bit too small a tank - a 55g would make a perfect tank for P. pictus.

29g, thats like 100 liters, or something like that, right?
Thats way to small for a group of clown loaches (if that is what you are meaning by clown) they will grow to 30cm (thats like 12 inches I thought) so a good tank size for them would be like a 750g tank, not a 29.

Re: Can I keep a peruvian pictus?
A 120g [note also that a standard US 125g tanks are longer but narrower, so less suitable to "long" fish] tank would be about right for a 12" (30cm) fish, as it's about 4ft long and 2ft side and height. But I agree that the mature size of a clown loach is not suitable for most average aquaria.T4FR wrote:29g, thats like 100 liters, or something like that, right?

Plus clown loaches like the company of other clown loaches so a group of 6 or so works bestMatsP wrote:A 120g [note also that a standard US 125g tanks are longer but narrower, so less suitable to "long" fish] tank would be about right for a 12" (30cm) fish, as it's about 4ft long and 2ft side and height. Re: Can I keep a peruvian pictus?
4 feet = 120cm right? (You really should try the metric system like the rest of the world, and for that matter, driving right
)
Even for a 30cm pleco that (120x60x60cm) would be way to small in my book. I would keep a clownloach in at least a 300x90x60cm, but if you increase the hight a bit for better looks, you would end up at something like 750g fast.
But problems would be way less with a clownpleco ofcourse!
What sizes has this 29g tank?
