Parauchenoglanis guttatus/loennbergi/monkei

Post by feeshy »

I know a while ago Fishbase had the valid name for P. guttatus listed as P. loennbergi, however I was just looking on there and it seems they've now changed it to P. monkei as an umbrella name for lots of previous species. Which is valid (I know guttatus is the most commonly used)?

It appears that current standards indicate P. monkei as the valid name - this being based on:
Ferraris, C. J., Jr. 2007
Checklist of catfishes, recent and fossil (Osteichthyes: Siluriformes), and catalogue of siluriform primary types. Zootaxa No. 1418: 1-628.
