Synodontis schall?

Post by jippo »

My LFS got these synos last week, they came as Synodontis mix W/C. No idea about origin.
As you can see they have a huge adipose and very short snout. I can't find anything else than schall. The small one turned its color more brown after it was settled.

On the large one that is not an adipose fin that is a sail :)

Jippo what is the length of the caudal lobes...is one longer than the other?

I don't have a photo but as I remember upper lobe was longer. I will check that when I visit there next time.

It's not 100% clear, but I think the second picture shows both fishes have slightly longer upper than lower lobe.

If it was S.schall it would be an intermediate brown with dark spots form, but I do not think this is what it is.

I can not come up with anything though, my average has been dropping lately when it comes to some of these syno's  .

I was looking at S. ouemeensis but the description of a preserved specimen showed no spots.
