corydoras species that have been bred

Post by Richard B »

There appear to be a number of cory species in cat-e-log where breeding is "unreported" although there appears to be reasonable evidence to the contrary - (either cat-e-log pictures or evidence from respected sources).

Would it be possible to to alter these to something like "has been bred - no specific detail available".

I just think from a neutral, new browsing persons perspective it seems odd to say "unreported" when photos are captioned " spawning act", "fry at a week old", fry at 20 days" etc.

Better still, we could ask for anyone who has bred cory species to submit a brief report (maybe even pics) to keep the species pages as up-to-date as possible. One of these species reported as being bred has no cat-e-log pic....

A few of us saw the bred "green lasers" at the CSG convention...

Species that spring to mind are...

cw009
cw010
cw016
c120
c129
c133
c150
c154
c areio
c garbei
c ornatus
c sarareensis
c shultzei

What do you think, is this a bit presumptuous? Is it a massive piece of work?

No, it's a good plan. I will see if I can work off a few - I'm in the middle of draining my RIO400 for water change, so I can't do it now, but later on I may be able to knock a few off the list.

If anyone sees/knows of any other species (of corys) that have been bred in captivity, then please post in this thread.

Other fish that have "unreported" and have clearly been bred can be reported in a different thread (that way, when one group is done, we can close that and the others remain open - if it's all one big "free for all", we'd never get rid of it, I suspect).

There is a good list to cross reference in Frank (Coryologist) link in his footer of species he has bred (several pics are posted in various threads) - he also keeps c154 (no pic) so maybe worth a PM?

Yes, the default text should either be "Unreported" or "Has been bred in the aquarium.". The no details thing is implicit and it might actually prompt one or two breeders to send in some details!

I can do the list that Richard has produced over the next day, that will leave Mats free to do some of the more complicated stuff!

Cheers
