Visit to Pier Aquatics.
I went for a quick run up to Pier yesterday - set of at 9.30, was at ASDA in Wigan at 12.40. Clear roads is definitely the word I'd use.
After shopping for milk and a few other essential in ASDA (to avoid delaying my departure from home), I went to Pier Aquatics.
I came home with two boxes of fish: The fish directly in the box is five of these: And I'm sorry, that's the last of the females gone from Pier.
The bags contain:
8 x
3 x Melanotania parva (lost one of the males of my first group, so decided to add another two males and one female to the 1 male and 4 females I already had).
6 x Barbus fasciolatus (Banded barb, Angola barb) - to go with the 6 or so that I got from Aqualife [I got 8, but I think two are missing].
There were lots of other nice fish.
Some that I remember:
(very nice size fish!)
(wild)
(wild)
(probably C140?)
Corydoras sp. Rio Cristiano
(small)
Leporacanthicus sp. L240
Baryancistrus sp. "Gold nugget" (X Large)
(small)
Ancistrus sp. Paraguay[/clog] (smaller)
sp. ?? (Can't remember).
Two different species of
Some "Dolphin catfish" - I think it was an Auchenipteriid that was a quite diurnal. Maybe Marc can comment.
I'm sure I missed lots of things...

Re: Visit to Pier Aquatics.
Nice Three Beacon pleco there
....I have/had one that grew to a massive size ...about 14" and was a pathetically amusing fish to watch. If he thought you were watching he would hide but if you moved away and watched from a distance he'd come out and chase the peppermints around all day long. He also developed a "understanding" with a large gibby where he would basically sit on the gibby's back a lot. Lovely fish ...they get very striking colours .... jet black at larger sizes and their fins then really stand out.
Can you recall if they had any Brachyplatystoma juruense ?

I'm sure if you buy the four remaining fish, you'll get them at a much better price than the £70 each... ;)

Thanks, this will make me sleep much better. I was afraid they would go for 25 or maybe 30.MatsP wrote:I'm sure if you buy the four remaining fish, you'll get them at a much better price than the £70 each...
Now that would have been horrible....

If you check the "my aquaria", you'll see that they are in one of my new 4ft x 2ft tanks. There's even a photo. From memory, it's Rack 2 - Tank 6.

ahhh yes, beautiful tank! I always forget to check their, but I actually didn't think you'd update it that fast!
Would love to see pictures when they colour up. Or settle down?
Those are some beauties you got there!
you deserve it after what happenned with your other fish.
That still pisses me off.

Re: Visit to Pier Aquatics.
Hi All,
Popped over to Pier a few weeks ago. Picked up 10 of the sterbai and 5 of the eques.
I thought they looked good in the shop, but now settled in new tank they are looking really amazing.
I will post some pics as soon as I get my camera fixed.
The Sclero barbatus I got from Neil a few months agon spawned last night, so may try some of their water in the sterbai tank and see if they get in the mood
