Queen Arabesque Not Eating
Queen Arabesque Not Eating
Hey, I'm getting worried about my Queen Arabesque. I'm pretty sure she's not eating. In the last month I moved her into a new tank with sand, caves at both ends and floating plants. She's the only bottom feeder. All water levels are good, temp is 26C.
I've tried waffers with high spirulina content, blood worms, brine shrimp and someone even suggested fresh prawns. Is there anything else I could try?

Re: Queen Arabesque Not Eating
I don't see any of my plecos eating.
Normally I feed at night and turn the lights off.
I would try what Matt suggested.

Re: Queen Arabesque Not Eating
My L260s don't eat when I can observe them, either. I drop sinking foods for them at night. By morning the foods are gone and I have the visual evidence of their consumption via pleco feces.
Is any of the food consumed, or is it left to waste?

Have kept aquariums 10+ years - from planted to reef. Now focusing mainly on fish-only community tanks, and Hypancistrus sp L260 plecos.

Re: Queen Arabesque Not Eating
Thanks Matt. I've only ever had Ancistrus and Cactus plecs before and they have always eaten when the food has gone in but my Arabesque doesn't move. She's temporarily in a tank with Guppies who I've seen eating the waffers and pellets etc.
I'm probably getting too worried over nothing but as she was given to me by a friend I don't want anything happening to her any time soon.
Thanks.

Re: Queen Arabesque Not Eating
If you can't see any "sausages" left behind (should be notably bigger than those from a guppy), I'd remove the guppies to ensure that you know the food is being consumed.
