Breeding Syno.petricola
Can Petricola be bred in pairs or are groups a must? Whats the best way to go about breeding them?

Re: Breeding Syno.petricola
I bred my S. lucipinnis (very similar and often labeled as S. petricola) as a pair. I divided a 10 gallon in half and filled the bottom with marbles. A dome style cave without a bottom was set over top of the marbles and they went to town. After the spawning was done I removed the pair from the tank and raised the fry in the same tank until they were big enough to transfer to a 29 gallon grow out tank.

Re: Breeding Syno.petricola
It is important to understand which species we are on about: petricola or what is offered/kept as petricola (which is really Lucipinnis).
It would also be good to know if you want to try and breed them where they are or have a dedicated attempt at breeding with specialist setups?

Re: Breeding Syno.petricola
Thank you. I am aware of the confusion between many synodontis species. I am specifically asking about petricola. I have not attempted to breed them yet but I would like to try in the near future. I would also like to try my hand at a few other species of synodontis if I can find them, but I'd like to start with petricola. Any advice on reproducing them?
