Petricola 911 Help!!!

Post by victoriaz24 »

I have this poor little Petricola that has a swollen mouth area & it's whiskers are not looking normal either. It was eating till yesterday & today looks worse. If anyone can help please let me know asap. I have never had any of my Synodontis sick before this one.

It would help us help you if you followed the directions here, even though it is not a cory... http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... f=6&t=4248

It looks nasty but most synos are quite resilient...what other fish are in with this one?

I would quarantine and begin a fungal treatment most likely.

That looks severe! How did it happen? Has another fish attacked it or physical damage before infection set in. As Birger says, quarantine & treat for fungus firstly & you might wanna up the aeration.
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!

The poor little girl didn't last the night :((

The tank has very good airation & I tried treating for fungus but must have been too late. The little Petricola's never get bothered by any of the other fish. The tank they are in is a 135G & has mostly Pleco's & other Synodontis in it. This is the only fish that was sick as well & have no idea how it got sick.
