Few Random Questions

Post by JamesFish »

Hi All,

Sorry for the collection but as most will probably not get an answer they are a little bundled and off topic largely.

1)Anyone seen these fish in the uk for sale?
Synodontis contractus 60mm (2.4") -
Synodontis multimaculatus 70mm (2.8")
Synodontis robertsi 75mm (3") -
Synodontis woleuensis 51mm (2") - need more info
Synodontis punu 44mm (1.7") - need reliable picture
Synodontis marmoratus 45mm (1.8")

As you can tell some I am looking for more information on. If you happen to have seen them and remember where / a price that would be great.

2)Looking at turning my noisy fish room back quiet with a few changes to filters. Admit ably will take a couple of months but I'm patient. Has anyone used the small boyu external filters? EF-05 is the actual model I'm looking at for smallest tank. This is for a 30L small tank so doesn't need a huge filter. Has anyone used them? How do they do with fry and little fish?

3)Moss ball repair - Anyone know how to fix them my fish have a new sport in breaking them into little bits for the smaller ones.

I can help a bit with the Synodontis question.

The only two with a chance to find occasionally with much searching in the UK (or anywhere) from this list are the and even these are occasional finds in the UK.
Any of the others it would be a very rare find indeed as they are as yet not imported even semi-regularly.

To elaborate a bit further...

Contracta - should be available without too much difficulty - i got mine directly from Neil Hardy Aquatica so anywhere they supply should be able to get them in. Prestwood had a few last i was there.

Robertsi - available once in a blue moon, the ones i've seen are only available as singles.

woleuensis - never imported to my knowledge, ditto for Punu.

The other two, well i've seen marmoratus once,20 years ago & multimaculatus may occasionally turn up but it needs to be a rock solid source & not a hybrid

Thank you both for your replies. Fancied bits a little more unusual for my personal tank when I reclaim it from fry. Will keep my eyes open and if anything unusual turns up will post it up.

This has turned out to be a thread about Synos. To aid other forum users I will move it to that forum. If you are still looking for feedback on your other unrelated questions then is suggest you post new threads in the appropriate forum. This will increase the likelihood of them getting a reply.

Cheers
