My dream catfish from West Africa was added 2 my West Africa tank last Monday!

2 Chrysichthys cf. nigrodigitatus (male and female)

Nice! Your tank looks awesomely natural and unique too.

Are they rare in the Netherlands? They look just like the generic aluminum cats offered commonly for sale in the US for ~$5. The only Chrysichthys that is available on 'regular basis' here is Chrysichthys ornatus.
My fish came to me, via some befriended aqua-freaks, from a shipment of Oliver Frank

Very high maintenance? I imagine all the foliage etc. will decompose and break apart and fall off and clog the filter and litter the tank...

But for what it is now, it looks way nice!

Hmm, you have the more expensive Chrysichthys, which is far less prevalent here...

Maintenance isn't very high
My pump blows enough water to transport possible dirt to my biological filter under the tank
Only real maintenance is cleaning the window and changing water ;)

Coptodon deckerti F1 pair
10 - 15 Pelvicachromis pulcher youngsters of 2 - 3 cm
5 large Synodontis decorus (2 m/3f ?)

I am wondering, is it possible to add a third catfish species in my tank
Please take in account that I will add a group of 15-20 Alestidae (most likely Brycinus longipinnis or Phenacogrammus interruptus)in the nearby future.
The Pelvicachromis are possibly leaving the tank

Species that attract me are Synodontis flavitaeniatus, Synodontis greshoffi, Synodontis pardalis, Synodontis robertsi, Synodontis nigriventris, Parauchenoglanis sp., Mochokiella paynei, Anaspidoglanis macrostoma.

Other ideas are welcome

I think mochokiella & S.Nigriventris are too small with the cichlids & polypterus. Robersti is too timid, flavis are timid too but greshoffi is a good shout

The macrostoma & parauchenoglanis sp. might eat small characins

The plans have slightly changed, however some species from that list are still one the possibly-in-the-future-list ;)

Synodontis flavitaeniata, S alberti, S pleurops, Notoglanidium macrostoma, Channalabus apus

My current stock is

5 S decorus XXL (2m/3f)
2 Coptodon deckerti F1 (pair)
1 Polypterus senegalus male
2 C cf. nigrodigitatus
8 Alestopetersius caudalis

The deckerti might leave, if I could find a decent home for them and the caudalis group will become bigger
