When I bought fishes, the man told me that fishes are L015. But now I don't know. There are 3 big fishes and 3 smaller than big....

Can't be sure on Peckoltia (L015s). But based on the pics, the small ones are Panaque Maccus. The 4th pic is possibly a Hypan. Try to take close up shots of their mouths. This will help us narrow down our choices.

I tried to take some better photos. I think so, Peckoltia (L015) have thicker line on their body than Panaque Maccus.

I was hoping to see some clear close up shots of the mouth to see their teeth. Nevertheless, no doubt, the small ones are Panaque Maccus. You got two males and three females in there. Very stout and beautiful!
The big ones are hard to tell if Hypans indeed because the mouth shot is not clear. But I strongly believe they are, based on these pics. Hybrid perhaps? You got three females I believe. Perhaps the experts can weigh in on this.

What are the difference between vitata and maccus? What is the mouth of the vitata or maccus like?

And I take a photo again

I don't think the big guys are Hypancistrus. To me they look more similar to

Panaqolus sp`acre`

, but that doesn't seem to be a match either.

Peckoltia vittata

and

Panaqolus maccus

are quite different. Click on the links to check out the Cat-elog images. Also, Panaqolus (and Panaque) differ from Peckoltia in having spoon-shaped teeth, a specialization Panaque use to gouge wood to eat.

I personally am too confused now about which fish exactly you are showing.

That said, the one in the last picture is a Panaqolus.

There are clearly at least two different species in this lot. I can't see ANY that are saying "I'm a Peckoltia" in my view, and I'm 99% sure none of the fish are actualy Peckoltia vittata, and my feeling (but I can't say for sure, as, unfortunately, the pictures showing clear distinctions are hard to say which is which fish. I know that some shops/wholesalers/exporters incorrectly call fish "Peckoltia vittata" based on the mis-labelling of a picture of Panoqolus maccus as "Peckoltia vittata" in Mergus Aquarium Fish Atlas Vol 1 (or 2?) [and of course, since some book writers often use other books for reference when writing their books, the misidentifications get propagated from one place to another].

I'm not entirely sure the smaller ones with brown body and lighter colour are proper

Smaller ones area healthy, adult P.maccus. The larger ones have me completely baffled.

Especially prior to l numbers, pretty much any small stripped Ancistrini was exported as "Peckoltia vittata."

Wish I could be more help with the larger ones. Someone on the site is bound to have come across them before.

That mouth shot confirms you have a group of Panaque Maccus. Now, do that mouth shot again with the bigger ones.

Peckoltia caenosa

. Nice find if they are.

Excellent suggestion! Especially as it sounds like they all came in together and the range of the two species overlaps. I kept looking at these thinking Ancistomus? Hemiancistrus?
