CORY ID - C paleatus or Scleromystax macropterus
CORY ID - C paleatus or Scleromystax macropterus
Hi all - This is my first post - I hope someone can help.
I recently acquired some corys - pictures below. They were sold to me as Corydoras paleatus but they are quite large (2.5-3.0 inches) and the males have long dorsal and pectoral fins and very elongated bodies. I think they might be Scleromystax macropterus.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

Welcome to PlanetCatfish
These look just like my the ones with the "high fins" are also Corydoras paleatus but long fin variant. That is also the size i got them at the store....maybe it's age related. The had also a few tiny ones.
Good luck

Paleatus have been bred with long flowing fancy /hi-fins.
Macropterus are very rare & expensive. No chance of getting these by accident really so your fish will be paleatus

Thanks for your help, guys.
I knew that they were likely to be C. paleatus, but given their unusual size and body shape as well as the fact that only the males have long fins, I thought perhaps S. macropterus was a possibility. Or C. longipinnis... But I guess just big, thin C. paleatus...
