Farlowella ID

If you see it on the glass, can you take a picture that shows the scale pattern on the belly? That is a key feature for identifying Farlowellas.

Also a pic of the tail would be good, showing colour pattern and length of filaments etc.

Finally, where did it come from? Chain store, local independent shop, specialist shop, or ideally original country of origin.

There are lots of very similar-looking Farlowella species but not many are common in the hobby. I have a breeding group of F.vittata and two F.mariaelenae.

Hi Mol,
Thanks for the response. I got it from a local fish auction, the bag was not labelled with the latin name but beyond that I don't know who/where it came from.
I hope these pics help, I don't see it enough to get a lot of good ones. Thanks!

This was the thread I posted when I first got my twig cats. If you have a read through you can see the sorts of things that people are using to provide an ID, and if you can't get a sharp photo of things like the belly scale pattern then perhaps you can have a look by eye and tell us what variant it is.

Wow, thanks! I took a look at the links and did some of my own hunting. It seems like it might be gracilis, but I'm certainly no expert. Thanks for all the helpful info!
