Pseudacanthicus sp L025

Hi
Two weeks from now im getting two Pseudacanthicus sp L025. One male and one Female.
And im in the middle of building a house.
Soo meen while i will house them in a 120 gallon tank. Thinking about keeping some small tetras with them.
But havent decided jet.

Both of them are around 12 inches.

I will keep them in this small tank for like 2-3 months.

U guys think i have to worry? About the fish well beeing?
Cous i have ordered big Breeding caves for them and thinking about filling the whole tank with big Bogwood.
How do that sound?

Any tip?
I have read everything i could find about this spieces.
I have 2 L114 and 1 L24. Bur they are juveniles.

How would you decorate the tank?

It is nice to see you have put thought into the problem in advance!
The space is a bit tight but can work. I keep a breeding pair of 10" L160s in a standard 125 gal hooked into my automatic water change system. I have sponge filters and a fluval 405.

Short comments
Not too much wood- water volume more important
4-5 hiding spots is fine
If they aren't hungry they're happy
Water quality will be the problem
2 fx5-6 is too much filter. Will take too long to cycle and hold too much waste resulting in nitrates and ph erosion.
I have both fx5 and fx6 are I love them but their ability to hide waste can make you lazy which is bad for the fish.
Don't worry about the tetras, they will just add to bio load.
The bacteria in the system will need a few weeks to catch up with the new bio load even if the filter is established. Keep track if water quality.
Give them time adjust to full tank lighting.

I need every advice i can get .
Next week they will arrive. And i wanna be really good prepered for my new Plecos =)
Ive been Breeding Snakeheads before. Soo this is something new for me =) And im soo exited !
Ive been warned that it is a really aggresive Pleco.
But i hope that if i use enough hiding places it wont be a problem.
Or should i try to get one more female?

U have any pictures of your L025 tank?
Would have been soo nice to see how a pro done it =)
How long did it take for u to get them to breed? Ive heard that the female only wanna breed once every two years?

Btw have u ever tried feeding with Repashy?
Ive just heard alot about it but have never tried it.

I did some mesuring before i released them both into the tank =)

Excellent dorsal view photos. I always have trouble with taking good ones. Looks like a pair.

Almost all information about pseuda behavior is based on improper care and a lack of understanding. One example is brightly lit bare bottom tanks. They may be easy to clean but would you like to live like that? Lack of food is also a problem. I haven't tried Repashy but have heard good things about it. For adults it would be expensive.

Based on experience, several spawns a year seems likely.
A pair is the best way to start. They should not be aggressive once settled.
They all have interesting personalities and can recognize different people.

On a scale of 1-10 for spawning difficulty, Scarlets are 11. I have been successful with many plecos, discus, cardinal tetras, egg layers, live bearers and these are on their own level. They are very different from the other pseudas.

It took me 2 years to match up the right pair and then 3 months until the spawn. It has been almost a year since then.

They have been fighting for a little bit but guess thats normal at the beginning. Before it settles down =)
The tank is pretty small but have fixed some temporary pipes for hiding untill the breeding caves are done =)
And i use 2 powerheads and one Streamer to get high cirkulation and Oxygen level in the water. And the 2x Fluval FX6 that i told u before.
And will do a 40% water change tomorrow.

Should i be worried?
Just added some Aquarium salt. And she seems fine. And it looks like just small scratches.

Anyone have any tip?

Either the entrance to the cave has a rough edge or there is a glob of clay stuck to the inside of the cave when it was fired. I use a hard rock to knock down the edges. Do both the inside and outside edges. Use whatever works for the inside and make sure it is smooth.

You will know bite marks when you see them.

Yes definetly they have healed nicely they look great in fins and everything now =) Ive getting a new bigger tank for them in the end of this week. Soo 2-3weeks from now it should be ready for them =)
