B. splendens size

How big do B.splendens get? I have a group that are now 2" in length. I have always been under the impression from literature and elsewhere that they reach approx 3" (80mm) in length. I am being told by some they can reach 5" in length.

My school of splendens is getting on a bit in age. I have had them for 8 years and they were fair lumps of fish when I got them. The males would be 8cm SL and the females not much more than 10 cm SL. I don't thing they will get much bigger. (there are 18 fish in a 400 liter tank)

B. splendens 76 mm sl (3")

Alan do you have any pictures of yours at 80 mm males - 100 mm Females they are large. there are possibly another two species very close to B. splendens that are yet to be described.

Wow... More people from FP than I expected!

Anyway, I think I may have seen some of those undescribed Brochis species a while back. They looked exactly like my B. splendens (from what I remember), but they were a good 5" long. They were quite a sight to see!

I used to think that's how big B splendens got, until I learned of these undescribed species. But B. splendens gets to be like 3.5", right?

Well, I guess I'll just wait and see how big mine get.
