Royal panaque skin problem?

Post by Claire »

Hello, I hope you can help, and that I've posted this in the right place!

I got a royal panaque nearly 2 weeks ago, to go into a tank that is 180 litres in size. I've also got a raphael catfish in there, with rainbow fish, clown loaches, corys etc. The day before I added him to the tank I did a 20% water change, and the day he went in I put in a course of whitespot treatment as directed by the fish shop (the WS3 stuff, in a blue bottle).

However, he doesn't look like he's been feeding much (I give him JBL pleco chips, and there's bog wood in there). This morning his scales down his back looked red raw, and this evening they had turned white. I managed to get a photo, and I hope its in reasonable focus! Any ideas to treat him would be really great.

thanks

i think your best bet would be to google fish diseases and look for a site with good description and advice.

example

http://www.versaquatics.com/disease_diagnosis.htm

be careful not to over or needlessly (innefective/the wron medicine) medicate

thanks for the advice - unfortunately when I went to look at him this morning he had died  poor thing - and he was from a pretty reliable store! I'll bookmark those sites for the future though.
