pimelodus blochii

Post by bunjiweb »

We had 3 of these come into work, they are all around the 6-7" mark. By the looks of it 1 male 2 females. I am going to buy them quite cheap to go in my new 6 x 2 x 2 tank with 4 Pim. Pictus.

Do you see any complications arousing? I have read varying information on them but the general consensus appears to be that in a large enough tank they are only boisterous between their own kind?

That seems to be pretty much the case.

This should hardly cause any problem, as the blochiis will hardly notice the pictus. Among themselves they are fairly peaceful; my experience was that chasing eachother was the only visible "misbehaviour". Same goes for the pictus, and, given enough space, you should be able to enjoy both groups without having to fear deaths, massacres etc.

I've kept blochii and pictus together (along with Mystus castaneus) and had no problems at all.

They are getting along absolutely fine! Added a lima shovelnose and 2nd filter (Eheim 2217) today :)
