L-46 sexing

Post by alga »

Here is a picture, I hope  , of two of my new arrivals. From this view any guess on sex? I have read about head shape and pectoral fin size, just wanted to hear from others.

Thanks

Hi

I'm very confident that both are males. They look healthy and quite mature as well, what size are they?

Thanks for the replies. They are both about 3 inches and doing quite well. I have a smaller one, probably 2 inches that did not pose for the photo's. What indications are you using for sexing them?

Thanks again

I think they are both males too.
The simplest way for me to describe it is that females have breast and males are block heads. So the female's widest point would be a bit below their fin, while the male's widest point is above the fins ... does that make any sense?

Thanks again, that makes sense to me about the heads and below the pectorals. Was hoping it was a pair! I'll use the information to check about the third fish.
