Lima tankmates

Post by greenmonkey51 »

Im thinking of getting some limas for the 125g that Im going to setup for SA cichlid tank. What would be the smallest cichlid that would go with them. Also what would be the best food for them. How hard is it to feed them.

With things like festivums, angels etc. you should have no problems at all. Geophagus etc are fine aswell. Anything smaller than a Kribensis will probably get eaten once the Lima is fully grown

Hey greenmonkey, I think that a decently tall c*****d, like a firemouth might work with a lima when it does get around 24"(in a couple of years). A really neat cichlid, if you don't have a planted tank is the Uaru, or Triangle c*****d. It will eventually get around 12" and can be kept in pairs. It looks awesome as a juvenile(olive green with a meshlike black pattern), and as an adult(black with an orange triangle on the flank). It took about 2 weeks to wean mine onto shrimp pellets. I just fed it well on feeder fish and then simply fed them only shrimp pellets. Fortunately, it took little effort on my part. Just wanted to offer a little advice.
