Olyra longicaudata

Post by bunjiweb »

Another odd little catfish I got from work, found it hiding in one of the coldwater tanks so fished it out. Identified it as the Bannertail catfish - Olyra longicaudata.

Very cool little catfish, my collection of "bizzare" small catfish is growing nicely now. This guy hides alot, only seen it out and about once, playing in the filter flow...

Make sure you keep only one per tank. These guys will tear themselves to pieces when conspecifics are about. They're not called fighting catfish for nothing...

This is true! (We speak from experience, unfortunately.)

Fascinating fish, though.
