My C. aeneus loves veggies (!)

I have two C. aeneus, both females, who agressively go after veggies I put in the tank for the otos, whiptails, and pl*co. There are three groups of cories in this tank and only these two fish seem to go after the veggies (squash and zucchini mainly).

I seem to recall seeing something here that veggies weren't good for cories

They are getting lots of opportunity to eat higher-protein, animal-based foods and will often bypass this to eat the veggies. They seem quite healthy and keep spawning.

Anyone else have this happen? Or is this just another case of my fish not knowing what they're supposed to do?

I don't think veggies are BAD for cories, as long as they have plenty of protein to choose from as well.

The general comment about cories and veggies are from people who've heard "You can feed catfish vegetables", where it's really meant to be "You can feed [some] pleco's vegetables".

Cories that CHOOSE to eat vegetables is fine. Trying to feed them vegetables as their only diet is NOT.

I've noticed Paleatus have a liking for spinach if it's put in the tank. I think they seem to be doing their limnivore thing with it, spitting it out their gills. They still seem to love worms best. The Aeneus I have could care less about veggies or the brown gunk on the tank sides. The new Trilineatus in residence...my goodness! What nifty limnivores.

Not a bit of brown stuff left in the 29 gallon tank. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were Otos.

My Pandas love courgette and butternut squash. I put these in for the bristlenose and I think they get injured from the bristlenose defending it. See injured panda post.
