strange behaviour

Post by Kath »

Recently my otherwise healthy synodontis catfish has been rolling onto his back and "playing dead". He does this for a few seconds, then swims around normally after that. He seems to do it more when other fish go near him. I've had him about 2 years now, but I'm not sure how old he was when I got him, he was about 6" long. The only thing I've changed recently about the tank is to get him a new cave as a hiding place, as he outgrew his last. Has anyone seen anything like this before? The tank's 36x15x12", and the temperature is around 24 degrees.

Synos have been known to swim upside down every now and then. Doesn't sound like too much of a deviation from the norm to me.
