Did you know fantastic help is an anagram of Planet Catfish? This forum is for those of you with pictures of your catfish who are looking for help identifying them. There are many here to help and a firm ID is the first step towards keeping your catfish in the best conditions.
I disagree with the previous reply to your identification problem. Hemibagrus wycki does look similar to this specimen, however the anterior is more shovel-nosed(not in the sense of the psudoplatysoma faciatum but MORE shovelnosed than this) leading me to the diagnosis that we are looking at mystus nemerus(asian red tailed catfish). Both are very aggresive and considered number 1 and 2 as far as meanest cat in the hobby. The hemibagrus wycki tends to be more devastating as it WILL terminate any tankmates whether diet or not. The mystus nemurus tends to viciously shred the fins of it's tankmates, particularly other big cats. How is this fish's demeanor? Let me know. Anyway...mystus nemurus, a fine catfish in its own right.
