Sold as the Aluminium (or aluminum) catfish. I have three of them. They seem to be what Axelrods's Atlas, with uncharacteristic hesitation, calls Chrysichthys sp. cf. furcatus.

The label on the tank says they're a good community fish. Maybe when they're small....

Hmmm interesting. I have seen an chrysichthys species At LFS labled as Aluminum Catfish however the one I saw looked nithing like that this was possibly Nigrodigitatus or maby brachynema. I resisted the urge to buy :( due to lack of sufficient information and im also holding out for my neverending search for Chrysichthys Ornatus.

I did a Google search and more than one species goes by that name. Chrysichthys longipinnis is one, but my cats clearly aren't that one. Another is stappersi, which isn't in the Cat-eLog. I'll look it up in books at the LFS.

Good luck in your hunt for C. ornatus. I have an adult one which is hand-tame; they're a great species.

They aren't widely available here. I actually got mine as an adult from somebody who was converting his tank to a discus set-up. It's the only one I've ever seen.
