i was wondering about spawning ALFBN. i have a group of them currently and the pots that i have spawned standard BN in apparently show no interest to these guys in spawning. The tank is at my parents house and has one male and 3-4 females. i havent tried PVC or real small clay tube type caves. one guy i talked to about clay caves thinks i may have too many females, and suggested 3 males to 2 females.
my question is with the Albino Longfin Bristlenose plecos what should i use as a ratio? Also what types of caves are best and have produced the best results for breeders of this species. i have successfully bred standard brown plecos on s few occasions with multiple pairs of browns, so i understand the basics of BNs. For Standards I have used terra cotta saucers sandwhiched together with a hole for the BN to get in and out.

Re: Albino Longfin Bristlenose pl*cos
They're exactly the same to breed as standard bristlenose. A male to two or three females is a fine ratio. If anything, spare male longfins tend to beat hell out of each other with more frequency than standard ancistrus, IME. I use 4" cichlid spawning caves. I also make sure they're tipped back to prevent the males from kicking out the eggs. The elongate finnage makes them cause more current for an equal amount of fanning. Patience, conditioning foods, and water changes are probably all you need to get them going ;).
