C. adolfoi loses colors?

Post by DutchFry »

hi there,

i have 4 C. adolfoi (1f/3m) en 2 C121(f/m) specimens in one of my tanks, they are doing great. but a while ago i looked in the tank at night, it was completely dark. i took a photo of the adolfoi female, because i had the feeling she was looking a bit weird. this is the result:

weird isn't it? i know P. axelrodi loses color at night, but i didn't know this corydoras species could do the same. anyone ever seen this before?

two days later the tank was full of eggs which was really nice, and since then this female adolfoi always loses colors over night. is this usual, normal?

some pics of spawn and fry:

last question: the C121 male is fertalizing (correct word?) the eggs of adolfoi female too. it seems they do not realize they are different species. is this a problem? al the fry are eaten by my H. bentosi group, and i have no intentions of breeding this species.
Greetings, Tim

Hi,
My Adolfoï as well loose ther colors as well during night. But they come back during the day, so I think this is normal as I noticed this phenomenum as on charachids.
See you soon,

Thats interesting, I will have to check mine out. Are you sure they are Adolfoi and not Duplicareous? Their black line is suspiciously thick.

well i'm sure i have 4 adolfoi and 2 sp C121 in the tank. good to know that others are experiencing the same thing. i was a bit worried, thought they might be sick. yesterday they provided me with 40 or so eggs again, so they must be healthy and happy in there.

thanks for the replies :)
