Re: that's a lot of plecs:-)
Although as some of the comments suggest, I don't think this is actually in South America where these fish are native, but rather somewhere like Mexico or the southern parts of the US. They look like or one of it's lookalikes, and there are several places where these have been unintentionally introduced, both in the US and South East Asia.

I think we have seen this before...is it not the video that was taken in a river in Texas, where they are wild but do not naturally belong...hence the slight imbalance, wouldnt want to be around if/when a die off begins

Re: that's a lot of plecs:-)
I wonder if large plecos are as good tasting when roasted in the shell as some have collector's have described in their articles?
I think I'd rather see them become established instead of Carp or Tilapia spp.

You must be joking
Does it really matter whether a local fish fauna is destroyed by a pretty fish or an ugly one?
I wish these plecos were exterminated - in Mexico.
They are said to taste good, but the local people will not try them, unfortunately
Mexican people are very religious, and perhaps they see some evil in the plecos - preventing them to eat them
The cich lid fauna which is destroyed by these plecos was eaten, adding more problems to the pleco plaque
