Hi
Following on from something I posted a while ago
http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... 26#p174095
IMO the IDs on some of the Tatias is incorrect. I base this on a combination of the following factors: The recent Tatia revision; correspondence with Luisa Sarmento-Soares, and having some of these fish myself. The reason I am posting it is I am doing a piece for the CSG newsletter and might as well get the stick now!
IMO the following ones are the issue:
'Tatia aulopygia' - IMO Images 1 and 3 are Tatia sp. A on my images on Scotcat (se link at bottom of post). As per Luisa these are (currently) a form of T. intermedia. Image 2 is IMO Tatia nigra - the very short post cleithral process can clearly be seen.
'Tatia brunnea' - IMO this is T dunni (the 'form' from the same river as the holotype - see fig 19a in the Tatia revision). Compare with true T. brunnea in the revision.
'Tatia galaxias' - IMO these are Tatia sp B on my Scotcat pages. Luisa has confirmed these are (currently) an intermedia form. T. galaxias has proportionately larger eyes and a different shaped caudal.
T. intermedia - these do show one of the intermedia forms, apart from image 12, which IMO is Tatia sp. B.
'T. neivai' - IMO these are also the variable T. sp. B at different growth stages (they are also variable at similar sizes). T. neivai has vertical broken bars in the caudal fin.

Re: Tatia identifications in Cat-eLog
Thanks Steve, I think I'd looked at this one when it was posted and thought, "We'll that's going to take a bit of checking/editing" and promptly forgot about it. I guess I'll need to actually do something about it now!

Also forgot to add that neivai has a long post cleithral process.
