Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
They have (maybe had?) a cracking lince cat at Maidenhead Aquatics @ St Albans. Not sure if it was actually for sale though.
Pier also get them in with some regularity, although you probably knew that already.

I'm sure I've seen Zungaro somewhere - I think it was at Wholesale Tropicals.

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
What proper Jau catfish, Paulicea Lutkeni?
Most zungaro zungaro, turn out to be Pseudopimlodus Bufonis aka Giant bumblebee cat.
Wildwoods ocassionally get in Notatus.

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
I'm planning another trip up to Pier just after Christmas. I'll try to check - or if you want me to check before I go and bring one back??
If they are reasonably regular on the list, I'd expect Neil would bring one in for you, if you ask...

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
I'm back on the 6th so I'd have to wait until then anyhow but thanks for the offer. I'm sure they will have one sooner or later. A genuine Jau might be more difficult I was unaware that the Giant Bumblebee was ever sold as a Jau.

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
I'm quite sure Neil at Pier can get you one to order. Might take a few weeks, and I'm not sure if you need a deposit etc., but if you're set on it, then that's where I'd buy it from in the UK.
He's on the forum from time to time, username sojapat (tapajos backwards...)

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
Yes I left my number with him. I'm positive something will come up. He seems to be the go to guy.
After I've got them it will be time for the big two .... Piraiba and Dourada.
Then I'll go back making sure I've got every single type of large Panaque.
Then I can die happy.

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
Hi Gents.
All the Zungaro zungaro I've seen listed on import lists so far have turned out to be Bufonis. That's not to say some P.Lutkeni dont come in. My understanding is that they are on a prohibited export list??
I've been looking myself for about 6-8 years, no joy so far - maybe Im looking in the wrong places
If it's cheaper to bring in more than one piece which it usually is I'd be willing to split the cost if that helps.
Rob

Rob, have you tried contacting Neil (sojapat), as Pier are pretty good at getting hold of unusual stuff in general.

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
Would only be Interested in Jau (P.Lutkeni).
Have spoken to Neil several times and he is on the case but don't think he has been able to procure any so far.
What sort of price we looking at?

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
£350 for the fish would seem to me to be the least of the costs of owning such an animal for a decade or two?

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
It would depend on the size of the fish. I've got tanks suitable for up to 3'TL and the ponds for larger then that the newest of which is going to be pretty big and have a viewing window.grokefish wrote:Indeed.

I don't think taksan is planning to put the fish into the lake itself in Virginia Water...

Re: WTB: Lince Cat and Jau
I wish .... if I could I would
Until then I'm afraid I'll have to stick with the indoor ponds but my newest one will have a viewing window so it will be sort of like a tank in a way.

When they are in a finished and aesthetic condition I will take pics. The new pond/tank is a pile of panels and frames on the floor at the moment.grokefish wrote:Pics?

Out of interest, MA St. Albans had Lince Cat around 18-20" TL on Sunday, but it was sold. Marked up at £350.
